Quirk
Aria's quirk gives her the ability to manipulate gas particles. Due to this,her quirk is incredibly versatile and opens up a multitude of possible applications. It allows her to manipulate wind, water vapour and with enough focus she can even create shockwaves and targeted lightning.She can also separate gasses into different types so she could effectively stop the spread of poisonous gasses, and contain them to a specific area. She can also use the molecules to create sound, and while she isn't able to do it yet she is currently attempting to refine this ability so she can mimic human voices which she can then use as a distraction technique.All in all, it gives her a broad scope of capabilities. However, among the drawback of this quirk can be equally severe. For one it takes a lot of mental focus so if she's too distracted or unable to focus her quirk will fail to work fluidly. Physically it takes a huge amount of energy to be able to manipulate even a small field of particles which saps her stamina quickly if she overuses it, and can cause fatigue related health problems such as heart palpitations, minor memory loss, muscle weakness, joint pain and migraines. For this reason she prefers to assume a more physical role in a fight, using her quirk to support her, along with a short sword and two hunting knives.
Appearance
Aria is a reasonably tall girl, with a pear shaped body type. Her hero training has lead her to gain a subtle but significantly usable musculature. She has straight black hair cut into a short, choppy style, complimented by her grey eyes. She also has natural freckles across her nose and cheek bones.Outside of school hours she likes to dress in alt rock fashion. And while she does wear a little bit of makeup it's usually only black eyeliner and lip gloss and it's rare that she wears full makeup.
Personality
As a person Aria can be quite blunt which can sometimes come off as rude, even if that's not how it was intended. And although she can pick up context clues she prefers to be straightforward about things to ensure everyone is on the same page. Although she would like to be more stoic, she has a tendency to anger easily and can get quite defensive when criticized. This is the remnants of pervasive anger issues which plagued her throughout her childhood and while she's come a long way from there, she still has certain things that can trigger an outburst from her.But for all of her flaws, she's fiercely loyal to those that she cares for and has a strong sense of justice. She is resolute in her convictions and if you are one of her people she'll back you up to the hilt.
Background
Aria had a rough start to life, the result of an accidental pregnancy to teenage parents. Her mother abandoned her shortly after her birth, and while her biological father initially tried to make an effort to take care of her at first, those efforts soon lessened as the fatigue caused by the realities of caring for a baby set in. And gradually, she grew to be increasingly neglected by her remaining parent. Over the course of three years her living space became increasingly uninhabitable and her neglect became more and more severe, to the point where eventually she had to be removed from her her biological family's care at three years old.Initially she was put into foster care, but struggled from the sudden change of environment and an inability to regulate herself emotionally. She also had a tendency to guard food and toys, as well as having difficulty communicating with both adults and other children, all a result of her neglect.At four years old she was adopted by a local hero Juntaro Yamori, who had three other children, all of whom were adopted and so had a lot of experience dealing with children from difficult backgrounds. He worked with her patiently to help her integrate into her new family, learn the skills she'd need, and gain the confidence in her new family that none of them would ever let her needs go unmet again. Her biological parent may have been her father, but in time Juntaro would become her Dad.However, emotional regulation had always been a persistent problem for her. She would lose her temper with others over small things, or flip out unreasonably over playground insults or teachers criticising her work.After each incident Juntaro would come and collect her and once she'd calmed down they'd talk about it. Naturally she would be punished for acting out but he always gave her space to express her side of things first. He also put her through therapy as well as other types of professional help to help her improve her emotional regulation.Due to this, her admiration for her Dad grew and grew. No matter how difficult she could be or what problems she caused, he never gave up on her. He never made her feel less or like she wasn't loved, even when she was at her worst. She would see his hero work and how his warm nature seeped into his every action. How he never gave up on anyone he set out to save. And to her that was what it meant to be a hero.Inspired, she set out to become a hero, like him. A hero who never gives up on anyone. She threw herself into her school work and trained with her quirk relentlessly to make it happen. Eventually, her work paid off and she was accepted into UA's hero course. The same one that her Dad had once attended. She is now in class 2B, working towards her aspirations.
